A man, simply identified as Julius, has allegedly raped a 7-year-old girl, damaging her private parts in Obafalabi Street, Ojodu Berger area of Lagos .

Punch reports that Julius is a northerner, who stays in a rented apartment with his
mother. It was reported that Julius tricked the Primary One girl into his apartment
on the night of Saturday July 26, after which he had carnal knowledge of her. The
girl, whose names are deliberately not mentioned for both future and security
purpose, had been searched for by her parents who wanted to go to mosque to
have the night’s prayers to no avail, not knowing she was in the room of their next
door neighbor.

The little girl was said to have sneaked back to her parents’ room with obvious
pains which the mother noticed when she got back from the prayer session. When
asked what was wrong, she described how Julius told her to remove her pants, laid
on her and telling her he was just play with her. This was followed by the arrest of
Julius, after which the girl was noticed to have urinary disorder.
Apartment rented by Julius
Confirming the incident, the mother of the girl, in her words to newsmen, said: “On
that evening, when we came back from the mosque, she could not bend down
properly. I asked her where she went and she initially lied, but later said she had
been in his room.
“She said the man asked her to remove her pants, and he put his organ into her,
stating that he was just playing with her. I then asked her to repeat the same to her
daddy when he came back. But in the morning when we confronted Julius, he
denied it. Then we called our family nurse, who came, tested her, and confirmed
that she had been raped.
“That same day, we took her to a private hospital where the doctor also confirmed
that she had been raped the day before, and on several occasions. So, we reported
at the police station. From that day, I observed she could not hold her urine.“A girl
who had stopped bedwetting suddenly began to urinate during sleep. The medical
personnel said there was a damage to her private parts that needed to be treated.
That was how she resumed treatment at the hospital.”
Furthermore, medical reports proved that there was a breach of hymen and the
absence of labia minora, according to one Dr. Sanni who is in charge of the case at
the private hospital the girl’s been for treatment for the past two weeks. Although
the mother of the alleged rapist could not be reached when the apartment was
visited by newsmen, the Lagos State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Lelma
Kolle, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, and added that the case, because of its
severity, had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.
It would be recalled that a 30-year-old man, who kept a young woman as sex
slave, was jailed for 17 years recently.
